Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you?
Dream Day Music is a collective of like-minded session musicians and singers. All are top quality performers in the UK and abroad, many working regularly with household names, like Russell Watson, Craig David and Bryan Adams. The performers' bookings are managed by Lauren, who herself is a graduate of Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts with a first class degree in music, theatre and entertainment management.
Can you play at our venue?
Almost certainly! The only venue we've ever had to decline to play at is Preston Registry Office, because they wouldn't allow us to plug into their mains electrics at the time. Even that won't be a problem if you choose an acoustic instrument such as violin or sax.
How far do you travel?
All of our musicians are available across the whole North West, with most available nationwide. Craig, Mike and Kate are available to travel abroad too.
Is it a problem that our ceremony and reception are at different locations?
Not at all. Please be aware that there may be a short period of set up time at the second venue before performances resume. Where possible, our musicians will set up a second set of equipment at the second venue in advance.
My venue requires public liability insurance
All of our musicians are covered with public liability insurance, mostly through the Musicians Union. Those using electrical equipment also carry PAT test certificates. All documents can be supplied to your venue.
Booking & Payments
How much do you charge?
Prices are listed on the instrument pages. Each musician has slightly different fuel costs (where applicable); we will confirm a precise quote when supplied with venue and date.
How do I book?
When you call or email to confirm that you would like to book, we will take all of the details that we need to post out our booking forms for you. Just complete these and return them to us in the prepaid envelope. A 25% deposit is required and can be paid by cheque in the same envelope or using the bank details on the booking forms.
Can we choose the songs?
All ceremony music is your choice, including entrance, exit and register signing music, plus a couple of pre-ceremony songs. Beyond that, our musicians are happy to take a couple of requests for any set, but their experience means they know what works well for any part of the day and it's best to let them read the audience to shape their performance to suit the mood. That said, we do recommend you supply a list of the type of songs you like, and the singers and bands you prefer, for your musician(s) to build a set list around.
What will our musician wear?
All musicians will be dressed smartly for the performance. If you'd like anything specific, such as a dinner suit, or for them to avoid a certain colour due to your theme, we'll make every effort to meet your needs.
Do you require food?
If the musician is at the venue for over four hours, inlcuding performing at the wedding breakfast, we ask that a meal is provided.
We'd really like a grand piano... discuss!
We're often asked about grand pianos, or "portable grand pianos". We are able to supply both. We own a portable grand piano, which is available to hire on a first come first served basis for any particular date, priced at £249. We also work closely with a local piano hire company, with acoustic grand and upright pianos available. As a guide price, a black or white grand piano will usually cost £500-600, and we'll handle all of the arrangements on your behalf.
Do you provide DJs?
DJing is a completely different field to live music, so, although we know and recommend several DJs, you'd need to book them separately to be sure that you're getting exactly what you need. We're more than happy to point you in the right direction though!
